Getting Ready for School!

I had only seven short days to get our classroom ready for a new school year. This is how Room 9 started out.

The bare walls and vacant space allowed me to get a little creative.
Since summer seemed to be ending quickly, I decided to bring the beach into our room for the WHOLE year!

What do you think of the transformation? Did you visit any beaches this summer? What is your favorite thing to do at the beach?

  2. I think the transformation of the room was spectacular. I love how I'm still at the beach and summer vacation. I went to the beach a lot of times over the summer. I like to swim in the ocean, boogie board, and I kind of surf on my boogie board.

    1. Tyler,
I am so glad you like our theme. I spent a lot of time at the beach as well. I was excited to bring my puppy to the beach for the first time. It seems he really likes the taste of seaweed. I also like to swim in the ocean. Do you have a favorite beach you go to with your family?
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. B

    2. Yes I do have a favorite beach I like to go to with my family. It is called Paradise Cove, next to one of your favorites, Zuma. Thanks for extending the summer and making the beach educational.

  4. I think that the transformation is unbelievably awesome! I love the umbrella. It adds pizzaz! I went to the beach three times this summer. My favorite thing to do at the beach is body surf and play in the sand. One time I even found a message in a bottle!

    1. Teddi,
Finding a message in a botttle must have been a unique experience. Did you open it? What did you find inside? Imagine if it was a treasure map!

  6. I think the transformation of the room was great. I feel so happy and excited. This summer vacation I went to two beaches in Israel. One beach in sea of Galilee and one in the Mediterranean sea and in Tel Aviv.It had big waves that I was body surfing.

  7. I think the transformation is very cool! I went to Zuma Beach several times this summer. One time I found a giant seaweed that was taller than me and looked like it had a carrot top head. I can show the class a picture, if you'd like. My favorite thing to do at the beach is dig in the sand for sand crabs, and I am learning to boogie board. I was lucky to see dolphins swimming a few times at the beach and on my fishing trip. I wanted to take my boxer dog to the beach for her birthday but it was a beach that did not allow dogs. What beach did you take your puppy? From, Evan

    1. Evan,
I am so glad you like our room's theme. I would love to see the picture of the seaweed you found. I usually take Brutus and Tank to Topanga beach. They like dragging all of the seaweed out of the water and try eating it when I am not looking.

  9. I think the transformation was amazing how you made your class into a beach!
I went to 3 beaches this summer with my family. My favorite thing to do at the
beach is building big sand castles. What is your favorite beach Loe Carrillo or
    Surf Rider?

    1. Braeden,
That is a difficult question to answer. I love both beaches for different reasons. Leo Carillo is a great beach to explore tide pools. During high tide, there is even a blow hole! Surfrider beach is a fun beach to hang out at. There are always lots of people surfing, and I sometimes like to watch people fish off of the pier. It is also a special beach to me because I got married there!
I think I remember you once mentioning you and your family go camping. Have you ever been beach camping?

  11. Dear Mrs. Broussard,

I think the transformation shows a big difference. I really like how the room transports you to the beach. I did go to the beach this summer, because I love how the beach is full of life. You hear the waves crash against the seashore, and I like how the sound puts you in a different place. The beaches I went to were Point Dume, Zuma, and Punta Mita.in Mexico. My favorite things to do at the beach are playing in the cool water, playing in the sand, and snorkeling. I love summer!

  17. Dear Mrs. Broussard,

I had an amazing summer. I went to sleep away camp for the first time! I made new friends and learned about my religion. I also went to a few soccer tournaments with my club team. We won the Santa Barbara tournament, the Huntington Beach tournament, and the Conejo Valley tournament. Our hard work in practice definitely paid off!

I realized I did not ask any questions in my first blog post. Did you do anything special this summer? Are you happy to be teaching third grade again?
